IKS Interiors were appointed by a family to give their kitchen a new life! Completely removing their old kitchen and fitting a new one – Great! What we do best.
First day on the job was to remove their old kitchen, which didn’t take long! Services were capped off ready for the knock-through to start. The ceiling was propped ready before the correct-sized steel was inserted. The wall between the kitchen and dining room was then carefully taken out. The external door, pantry and door into the hallway were also blocked up.
We inserted a new doorway under the stairs to give access to the pantry. The steel was left exposed for inspection by building control. The plaster was shot in the dining room so we re-boarded it before plastering to ensure a quality finish.
The old external access to the kitchen was blocked up. We matched the existing brick and it was toothed-in plus the header lintel was also removed along with the step.
Blocking the external door into the kitchen, pantry and access to hallway meant the wall could be utilised for additional worktop space and tall units.
The building work was completed over a period of a few weeks; here are some images of the kitchen installation on completion. We had to solve the issue of working around the nib that wasn’t in the original designs. A notched drawer pack, wine rack and split units solved the problem!
If you look how much more light the kitchen/dining space gets as a result of taking the wall out compared to the ‘before’ images it really is impressive.
We also built floating shelves into the chimney breast alcoves and storage units at low level
New Laminate flooring was also fitted throughout the kitchen, dining room and hall way.
Worktop space was a major issue in the original kitchen. Prep and storage space has been increased by at least 50% and the customer is thrilled with their new kitchen!
A job well done and another happy customer from an IKS Interiors Kitchen installation!
